California recently passed Assembly Bill 8. AB-8 adds additional restrictions to the sale of certain hemp products. If you're curious, the entire bill is visible here.
New Restrictions
Effective January 1, 2026, we will no longer be permitted to ship Papa & Barkley gummies, drops, softgels or capsules to any California address.
The Good News
Topical products were specifically excluded from these restrictions. We will continue shipping Papa & Barkley balms, body oils, and sticks to California residents.
In addition, because AB-8 was focused solely on hemp products, all Papa & Barkley cannabis products will remain available at licensed California dispensaries and delivery services. Our store locator is the best way to find a retailer near you.

If you currently have an active subscription to any ingestible product(s) with a California shipping address, your subscription will be cancelled on December 31, 2025.
If you have an active subscription with a mix of topical and ingestible products, we will only remove the ingestible product(s). Your subscription to topicals will not be affected.

AB-8 will restrict all Papa & Barkley ingestible products from being shipped to a California address. This includes:

CBD Releaf Drops - Both Regular & Double Strength.

CBD Releaf Capsules
Select Bundles - If they contain any of the above products.

Can I ship my order to an address outside of California?
Yes. These regulations only apply to shipments entering California. If you have friends or family in a state where we currently ship, you may place an order to be delivered to that address.

Absolutely not. This regulatory change is political and legal in nature. It is not a recall or a reflection of product safety. Our formulas remain clean, solvent-free, and rigorously tested for purity and potency, just as they always have been.
Why are some brands still shipping ingestible products to California?
Why are some brands still shipping ingestible products to California?
This is due to one of two reasons:
Reason #1: That brand is operating illegally and violating California law. This increases the likelihood of other violations such as contaminated products, falsified test results, credit card fraud, etc.
Reason #2: That brand is using chemical cannabinoid isolates instead of a full-spectrum infusion.
AB-8 explicitly bans any amount of THC in hemp-derived products. However, some brands may choose to create products from isolates to continue shipping to California.
Papa & Barkley only makes full-spectrum products as we believe this increases efficacy. We focus on solventless processes, minimal processing and maximizing the inherent benefits offered naturally by the cannabis plant.
